Falk Kautzner was a navigating officer with various shipping lines, including P&O. He retains his love of the sea, which is reflected in his paintings of oceans and ships. During his days in the merchant marine, he spent several years on the Rainforest Rivers and around the tropical coasts of South East Asia and New Guinea, which gave him the inspiration to paint, rain forests and wildlife from the late 1970’s.
Falk Kautzner is entirely self-taught and continues to develop ways of representing the subjects that he paints.
Since appointing our Gallery to represent him, Falk has been painting superbly detailed work of Sydney Harbour and the unique cityscape from the water. He has become the standard for people wanting memories of Sydney.
Falk Kautzner represented in the Maritime Art Award Touring Exhibition several times. His paintings are in collections in Europe, Japan, China, America and Hong Kong, Armidale University, P&O Liner and The Oriana.
