Gillian is an experienced artist who has a Fine Arts Degree, and has studied advanced printmaking techniques as well as the more traditional painting and drawing subjects.
She has recently produced a new body of innovative and exciting work that reflects a change of vision, due to discussions with her mentor, Annette Pringle. The paintings are contemporary semi-abstract constructions of mixed media, with three dimensional effects. These are achieved by building up the canvas surface with impasto, and sculpting it to form buildings and landscapes before applying the paint and lacquers.
In Gillian’s series of Sydney Harbour, she has explored the textures and lines of wharves, piers, bridges, cranes and constructions. Sometimes the focus is on the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, and at other times on the apartments and high rise buildings that adorn the city’s shores.
Gillian has exhibited successfully for some years, and has works in homes and corporations both here in Australia and overseas.
We are delighted to be able to show her exciting and spontaneous work in our gallery, and feel sure everybody will view it with as much pleasure as we do.
