Peter Browne, Australia’s Brushman from the scrub, was born in West Wyalong, New South Wales in 1947. In his early days, Peter worked in shearing sheds around Australia, from Western Queensland, around Longreach and Julia Creek Peter commenced full time painting over 20 years ago, in a style that centres around Australian wildlife and folklore humour. Peter is well known internationally and is mentioned in most Australian guidebooks, including the “Lonely Planet”. His desert studio is a mecca for Australian and overseas visitors and has been the subject of many outback documentaries with appearances on programmes such as “Holiday”, “The Best of Holiday”, “Getaway”, “Good Morning Australia”, “A Current Affair” and too many others to mention. Peter has received reviews in most Australian newspapers including “The Australian Post” “Open Road”, “People Magazine” “Business Review Weekly”, “Inflight Magazine” and many others. The Bulletin described Peter as “probably the nation’s most all Australian artist”… Peter has held many successful exhibitions, both solo and in conjunction with other fellow brushmen from the scrub, together with noted artists ProHart, Jack Absolom and others, including several exhibitions in the United States and Europe. His works are represented in many private collections, including the last outgoing Australian Governor General, Bill Hayden and the past State Governor of New South Wales, Sir Peter Sinclair. Peter became a member of Rotary International in 1986. He is a life member of the “Stockman’s Hall of Fame” and founder of the Silverton Fire Brigade, He has tirelessly assisted charities in the outback and nationwide. Peter’s popularity is swiftly growing with investors and collectors alike with an appeal to a broad range of age groups. Peter is a “True Blue Aussie” and his artwork is Australiana at its best!
