About the artist
Chris Kandis was born in 1966. At the age of 14, he decided that painting was going to be his chosen profession. Chris was fortunate to study informally with Leonard Long OAM. He received guidance, support and encouragement form Leonard. Much of the subject matter of Chris paints relates to the beautiful Australian landscape.
Chris has acquired numerous prizes and awards for his outstanding paintings. He gained his experience when he travelled to Europe to work and study. As a testament to his talent, he was invited in 2004 to exhibit alongside the late Pro hart. He was also part of the Commonwealth games promotion in Toronto, Canada.
Chris is represented in many corporate and private collections including Qantas, Austrade in Canada, Singapore Airlines (private commissions), Greg Norman (champion golfer) and Nicholas Cage (actor) to name a few.
Chris has the talent to vary his technique and style according to the different subject matter he paints.
Chris's paintings are highlighted by energetic brush and palette knife work with texture, colour and expression. The boldness and design of his work is highlighted by the subtle mood and atmosphere he is able to effectively capture, in his works of art. Chris has stated that 'paintings' should be attractive, or at least have an element of beauty about them.
