The history of Australian landscape painting is a fascinating journey through culture, symbology and the ever-changing relationship between people and land. We have a great affinity with the land in this nation and so to, with the art that represents the land. Aboriginal art has been made for many millennia in one form or another which brought about important contemporary Indigenous artists like Emily Kngwarreye, Gloria Petyarre, Rover Thomas, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa and Clifford Possum amongst others. The likes of Roberts, McCubbin, Whitely, Streeton and Boyd became household names. Landscape painting has always been at the forefront of our artistic sensibilities. Welcome to the Great Australian Landscape. An eclectic exhibition of paintings by some of the best modern day landscape practitioners. You’ll see works by Ken Knight, Johnny K, Peter Coad, Emily Persson, Mel Brigg, Ken Strong, Kris Ancog, Phil Stallard, Paul Battams and Rex Turnbull.
